Abstract

Food choices play an important role in the development and prevention of lifestyle-related diseases among adults. This study examines the association between dietary preferences and common chronic health conditions. Food choices are assessed through consumption of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, processed foods, sugary beverages, fried foods, high-salt foods, and foods rich in saturated fat. Lifestyle-related diseases considered include obesity, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and other metabolic disorders. The findings suggest that frequent consumption of highly processed, energy-dense, and nutrient-poor foods is associated with a greater risk of adverse health outcomes. In contrast, diets containing more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and minimally processed foods are associated with healthier body weight and improved metabolic indicators. The study highlights the importance of informed food selection, balanced nutrition, and dietary education in reducing the risk of lifestyle-related diseases and supporting long-term health among adults.
